The Kokomo Howard County Public Library is about so much more than just books. The library’s three braches have Wi-Fi access, public computers, an array of programs and events, and all sorts of digital and physical materials.

It is the first library in Indiana to create a Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom. Located at the Russiaville Branch, the space has areas for climbing, building, music, art and a zone to get messy.

In 2017, the library was the first library in the world to display an original Banksy. The street artist’s “Haight Street Rat” display was surrounded by special programming at the library that taught adults and children about street art.

The library regularly hosts traveling educational exhibits, such as Discover Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference. The exhibit gave library visitors a chance to explore, play and gain hands-on knowledge of engineering.
