More people are choosing to make Kokomo their home, with Census Bureau figures showing an increase of more than 170 residents in just one year.
And that’s because Kokomo is a great place to call home!
Kokomo has a thriving economy which was recently named one of the fastest-growing economies in America since the Great Recession by Bloomberg. That’s thanks to a combination of factors from boosted factories, a more vibrant economy, increased public amenities and entertainment options.
And that’s not including our many placemaking initiatives – a new downtown YMCA, a vibrant art scene, great community festivals, Kokomo Municipal Stadium, etc.
All this has resulted in an influx of housing development, with Kokomo seeing its fair share of projects in recently years. Multiple housing and apartment developments are now underway in Kokomo.
Planned apartment projects have also been plentiful, including within downtown Kokomo, in the former YMCA; on Kokomo’s near east side, in the form of townhomes; and student housing near Indiana University Kokomo.
Several apartment developments are now open and accepting new residents, such as the luxury urban apartment community of 306 Riverfront District and The Lofts at Union in downtown Kokomo.
One recently approved housing project will bring 70 homes, ranging in price from $250,000 to $350,000, to a southside Kokomo neighborhood; another is set to build 220 homes in coming years in the Webster Crossing neighborhood.
The city is even building homes on vacant and underutilized lots in Kokomo neighborhoods.
